    Hi all,

Just wondered if any of you have experience with using a clipper (in the box) before the limiter in your mastering chain to increase perceived loudness. Trying to compete with some really loud masters and have a feeling that the reference tracks I’m using are making use of this technique. I’m finding it tricky to reach the last little bit of punch in the kick an snare that the ref’s have and wondering if this may help to get me there ( this is on a stem master).

    Thanks in advance!

    Best,

    Ben

Clipping produces a lot of high order harmonics that are unmusical, aggressive and harsh! To reduce these artefacts, use oversample and lookahead.

Check out the new MMW forums here mate: mixmasterforum.com

You will get more answers there and I can upload screenshots etc if you would like.

    Awesome thanks so much Paul!!

I’ll repost this in the other forum and if you could post some pics in there that would be super awesome!
